What types of material can be requested through interlibrary loan?

Items that are commonly borrowed:

  • Books –

    • Books not owned by an USMAI library. Books in the USMAI catalog can be requested directly via Patron Placed Holds ( PPH) 

    • Lenders may limit the number of multi-volume works

  • Photocopies of articles and book chapters

  • Dissertations/Theses (check Digital Dissertations (ProQuest) for online availability)

  • Conference Proceedings

  • Patents

 

Items that may be difficult to borrow:

 

  • Books published before 1900

  • Recent publications

  • Entire serial volumes

  • Manuscript and archival material

  • Genealogy

  • Textbooks

  • Videos, CD’s and DVD’s
